Trying to decipher what each category of licence actually means can be extremely frustrating and time consuming. Therefore, we have decided to make it really clear what vehicles you can drive with a Class 2 licence.
A class 2 licence is also known as a Cat C licence and it allows you to drive large vehicles which are over 3500Kg (3.5 tonnes) in weight, with a rigid body base (which means the cab and the trailer do not come apart). This can also include towing trailer up to 750kg (0.75 tonnes) in weight. The maximum weight of a Cat C vehicle is 32 tonnes.
This licence type is currently the most common licence held by HGV drivers as it allows them to drive a wide range of vehicles.
You are now probably thinking what type of vehicles fit into this category! Examples of these vehicles are refuse collection vehicles, fire engines, large motor homes or horse boxes and delivery vehicles. They are most likely to be used around cities rather than for long haul journeys.

There is obviously no definitive answer, as each learner is unique and therefore times vary from person to person. However, we have provided a guide to timings below.
