Premier Fleet Solutions are proud to be delivering the Government’s Skills Bootcamps which are part of the Skills for Life Initiative.
The HGV Skills Bootcamps are funded by the Department for Education for individuals who wish to gain employment as a HGV driver.
The bootcamps are 16 weeks in length and provide individuals with all the skills required to drive HGV vehicles. In order to join the programme, you need to commit to up to 100 hours of learning, both guided and independent. This will include online study for theory tests, classroom training and practical driver training. You must also successfully pass a D4 driver medical. You need to be able to achieve this within 16 weeks of starting the programme. In order to be offered a place on the programme, it is essential that you are able to commit the time and motivation required to succeed.
By applying to this programme you are committing to gaining employment as a HGV driver after completing your training and passing all tests.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the skills bootcamps you must:
Be a UK Resident
Be aged 19 or over
Have the right to work in the UK
Hold a full UK driving licence
NOT currently have Cat C entitlement
We will not accept anyone with more than 6 penalty points on their licence.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the skills bootcamps you must be either:
Unemployed for less than a year
Currently employed but want to change your career and become a HGV driver
Self employed and want to supplement your income or change career and become a HGV driver
Car drivers who want to go straight to Cat C+E
Application Process

You will be required to complete an online application form

You will attend a group presentation/interview focusing on what the programme entails and to demonstrate your commitment to the programme

If successful at the group interview you will be invited to a one to one interview
Once you are offered a place on the programme:
We will book you a D4 Driver Medical and support you to complete your D2 application for provisional entitlement.
We will provide you with a study pack to revise for your theory tests.
Once you have passed your theory tests you will commence the practical element of the course.
You will attend some classroom training including Mod 4 CPC Training and Load Restraints.
You will then complete your Mod 4 CPC Test.
After completing your Mod 4 you will commence practical driver training over 9 sessions of 4 hours.
You will take your 3A Reverse and Coupling Test.
Then your 3B Practical Driving Test.
Finally, the last classroom sessions, Tachographs and Working Time Directives and CV and Interview Skills.
Once you have completed all of the above we will put you forward for a job interview with our employer partner.
These bootcamps will be run from our offices in Penistone, South Yorkshire.
Practical Driving Tests will be taken at Sheffield Handsworth Test Centre.
