This policy describes the Premier Fleet Solutions Ltd.’s approach to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for employees, subcontractors and learners.
The policy should be read in conjunction with the Safeguarding Policy.

Employee Responsibility
Employees have a responsibility to promote the emotional resilience, wellbeing and positive mental health of learners and colleagues.
Any member of staff who is concerned about the mental health or wellbeing of a learner or colleague should speak to Sarah Martin.
If there is concern that the learner or colleague is in danger ofimmediate harm, then safeguarding procedures should be followed.
If the learner or colleague presents a medical emergency, then the procedures for medical emergencies should be followed, including alerting the first aid staff and contacting the emergency services if necessary.
Where a referral to an external agency is appropriate, this will be led and managed by the Designated Safeguarding Lead (Sarah Martin.
Teaching about Mental Health
The skills, knowledge and understanding needed by learners to keep themselves and others physically and mentally healthy and safe are included as part of the onboarding process and during the training programme where required.
The skills, knowledge and understanding needed by employees and subcontractors to keep themselves and others physically and mentally healthy and safe is included in their induction to the business and through staff training.
Premier Fleet Solutions Ltd follows appropriate guidelines to ensure that mental health and emotional wellbeing issues are taught in a safe and sensitive manner.
Signposting
Premier Fleet Solutions Ltd ensures that all employees, subcontractors and learners are aware of sources of support within the local area and via national programmes. This is done using the wellbeing board in the training suite, which displays posters, leaflets and online resources and highlights services and information which could provide support to learners and employees.

Warning Signs
Employees may become aware of warning signs which indicate a colleague or learner is experiencing mental health or wellbeing issues. These warning signs should always be taken seriously and staff observing any of these warning signs should communicate their concerns with Sarah Martin.

It is important to note that any change in the usual behaviour or presentation of a learner may indicate poor mental health and this should be considered as a possible explanation.
Managing Disclosures
Confidentiality
Employees must be honest about the issue of confidentiality. They should never share information about a colleague or learner without first telling them. Ideally employees should receive their consent, though there are certain situations when information must always be shared with another member of staff, an external agency and/or a parent/carer in line with our safeguarding policy and where there is a risk of harm to the learner themselves or others.
If a colleague or learner gives staff reason to believe that there may be underlying safeguarding or child protection issues, a referral to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (Sarah Martin) must be made.
Training
All employees will receive annual training about recognising and responding to mental health issues in addition to their regular safeguarding training. Staff who require more in-depth knowledge will have access to relevant training.
Employees can discuss their own training needs with their line manager both during their appraisal and at other times of the year as a need becomes evident.
Physical Health
Premier Fleet Solutions have a responsibility to ensure that all employees, sub-contractors and learners are safe and all practical activities are risk assessed to ensure they are as safe as possible.
Risk Assessments
The learner risk assessment identifies all the potential risks that a trainer or learner will face throughout the training journey and outlines the steps taken to minimise the risks.
The office risk assessment identifies any risks within the office environment and outlines the steps taken to minimise the risks.
PPE
Premier Fleet Solutions Ltd provide the appropriate PPE which includes Hi Viz vests and safety boots to ensure employees and learners are kept safe.
Training
Premier Fleet Solutions ensure that all employees, subcontractors are trained and supported before carrying out any activity which poses risk to physical well-being.
Learners are supervised when carrying out procedures such as vehicle checks, coupling and driving unfamiliar vehicles prior to passing their tests.
Eye tests
Premier Fleet Solutions Ltd offers eye tests every two years for all employees who use DSE.
